A Gen Z slang and culture reference site, built to own a fast-growing search need.
What we did
Gen Z Decoded answers a question parents, teachers, managers and marketers type every day: what does that word mean, and should I be worried about it? The answer changes month to month, so the site had to be built to grow without falling apart.
It is a slang dictionary, a translator and longer explainers, organized so a search for one term lands on a real answer instead of a list, and so thousands of short entries stay easy to move through as more are added. Each entry says what the word means, where it came from and how it is actually used, in plain language a parent can read over a teenager's shoulder.
The site is hand-built and ships as fast static pages, and new entries are added by dropping in a file rather than rebuilding a template. Search picked it up: impressions grew several times over in a single month, into the tens of thousands, and Google flagged a new monthly record for clicks.
