About Web Leveling

Built for the web your customers are moving to.

Our purpose

"Build for where buying decisions are forming. Own what gets built."

See what we build
A line drawing of a workbench with a web page being assembled at its centre, a clipboard checklist of ticked boxes to one side, and the same small page drawn twice, one open and one shaded.

Ask where your next customer will come from, and the answer has changed shape. Some will still type into a search box. More and more will ask an AI assistant who to hire and take the first name it gives. Either way, the decision starts forming before anyone clicks, on the strength of how fast, structured, and quotable your website is. That’s the web we build for.

Web Leveling is a web design, marketing, and AI agency working with businesses wherever they are. Every site we ship is written by hand on Next.js, because custom code is the most direct way to hit the marks that matter now: pages that load instantly, structure that Google and answer engines can both read, and content that earns citations instead of a scroll past. Many of our builds are migrations, businesses moving from platforms to custom, and nobody has asked to go back.

Craft, here, is a measured thing, not a mood. Contrast is checked by number in both light and dark themes. Reading text never drops below a size your customers can comfortably read. Speed is audited on the production build, and the rendered page is verified so engines see the whole thing. If a detail can be tested, it gets tested before you ever see the work.

One conviction holds the practice together: what we build for you belongs to you. The design, the content, the accounts, the data, all in your name. Engagements run on clear terms, because real results take real time; ownership is never the thing you trade for them.

And because buying decisions now form inside AI answers, we build that layer too: Generative Engine Optimization to get you cited, automation that returns your hours, chatbots and custom agents that work the front desk while you sleep. Not AI as a badge on a slide, but AI as things that run every day and pay for themselves.

That’s the practice. The rest depends on which case is yours.

What we hold to

Four rules. You can hold us to all of them.

RULE 01You own everything.

The code, the content, the accounts, the data. If you can’t take it and leave, we haven’t finished the job. This rule outranks every other rule.

RULE 02One sentence per line item.

If we can’t explain a line item in one sentence, you shouldn’t be paying for it.

RULE 03Built to be found.

A site that looks good but never gets seen is a brochure in a drawer. Speed, structure, and search, for Google and for AI engines, are part of the build, not an upsell.

RULE 04Small on purpose.

You talk to the person doing the work, not an account layer. Decisions happen in days, not steering committees. That’s a feature, and we’re keeping it.

The person behind the work

When you write to us, he's the one who reads it.

CAL HEWITT · FOUNDER, CEO & PROJECT LEAD

Cal started Web Leveling and still builds in it every day: the designs, the code, the migrations, the AI systems. Thirty years in business analysis, management, consulting, and digital marketing sit behind every call, but the person you meet is the person who does the work, not a junior team handed the file after kickoff.

What you get is a builder who answers his own inbox, tells you when something isn't worth paying for, and would rather keep your business by being good than by holding your website hostage. Every message through the contact page lands with him. Read Cal's full story.
