What is the Difference Between Search Engine Optimization and Pay-Per-Click?

A business should generate enough revenue to focus on its core business without worrying about paying its monthly bills. This, in turn, will allow them to be in a secure position in their business while making it easier for them to do their job. If a business wants to leverage online marketing to increase revenue and brand awareness, it should find a way to increase visibility on the search engine result pages. There are two main ways to do this - search engine optimization and pay-per-click advertising.

What is Search Engine Optimization?

Search engine optimization, or SEO, as it is commonly known, is the means of improving traffic volume to your website from the search engines by making your website more visible in search results. This is accomplished in several ways; keywords are the methods commonly used.

When a person searches online, they search by a keyword or a combination of keywords. If a website has a keyword or combination of keywords on its page, the webpage may be shown to the person searching.

Search engines will display the list of websites with the keyword in descending order with the best web pages at the top and near the top of the page. When a person searches for a particular word or keyword, the search engine results page will display a list of web pages that align with the keywords searched.

The more times a keyword is used in a web page, the more likely it will be seen, and the greater the chances the website will appear in the search results list.

The higher the chance to appear in the results section of a search, the more opportunities the website will get to be noticed. Therefore, this is the main objective of the search engine optimization process.

Search engine optimization is not a difficult thing to carry out. All you need to do is make sure that your website has the right keywords to rank for the chosen keywords.

What is Pay-Per-Click Advertising?

Pay-Per-Click is when a website owner pays a search engine to place their website on the results page for them.

This means that they pay the search engine to rank their website on the results page. Pay per click is something that only huge Search Engines like Google and Bing will allow, so you can be sure that you will be displayed on their results page.

To it appear in the ranks, you will have to pay for pay per click. However, the price you pay per click has no fixed limit. It can be zero. This means that you can do a pay-per-click and pay nothing when the website gets clicked.

So, How is Pay-Per-Click Advertising Different from Search Engine Optimization?

In search engine optimization, you get to place your website in the ranks if there is a demand for your services on the search engine's search results page. This demand is generated by how many websites have the same keywords and how popular your keywords are.

In pay-per-click, you try to place your website in the search engine results pages at the lowest possible cost, and because you pay for the placement on the search engine results page, the search engine will likely place your listing above all other listings.

Pay per click is something that you pay to get to the results page. However, in search engine optimization, you get to place your website on the results page if there is demand in the search results page based on how many websites have your keywords.
